Mad Cows and Englishmen
Since I wouldn't want you feeling too nice and cozy, check out this creepy little fact from Tess Gerritsen to put a bit of spark and sizzle into your weekend bar-b-cue.
The disease mentioned is called Kuru. It was used in the novel, Dream Park, By Larry Niven and Steven Barnes. The Fore men also get it because they are fed the infected tissue by the women when they are children. Mad Cow showed up in the early 90's in the UK. Deano and I were stationed there at the time and still worry a bit especially since the incubation period of Kuru turns out to be even longer than they thought.

...and we're still not allowed to give blood, either, though I did find out we can donate bone marrow...
